ENERGIE is a European Interreg Greece-Italy project dedicated to attracting international talent to peripheral areas in transition for the development of climate-positive urban regeneration strategies and projects that reduce environmental impact across the Mediterranean.
Through international place marketing activities, design residencies for talent and co-design processes, ENERGIE contributes to making cities more beautiful, liveable and inclusive, transforming urban regeneration into a concrete lever for climate action and social justice.
The pilot cities involved in the project are Brindisi (IT), Matera (IT) and Aigialeia (GR). Each has identified an area particularly representative of the ongoing transition to be enhanced. Brindisi is the main hub for temporary residency for international talent and experimentation, where local communities and visitors co-design urban solutions capable of reducing environmental impact and improving quality of life across Puglia, Basilicata and Greece.
The project also aims to develop a dedicated re-skilling offer for the workforce in transition, with particular reference to the necessary skills reconversion in the pilot cities undergoing industrial transition processes.
